It is crucial to understand the complexity of racial attitudes and the societal, communal and individual factors that create a person’s way of thinking. Misinformation is a huge problem in America. Because of this influx of misinformed citizens, Millennials and Gen Z members who identify as conservative will be just as racist if not more racist than their ancestors at the time of Jim Crow laws inception, despite the narrative that racism is diminishing. Notice I did not say Democrats or Republicans. There are many politicians who tote the line for political gain and can identify with either. I refuse to let all democrats off the hook of conservatism. Also, Democrats have a history of conservatism (Dixie Crats). So, this criticism of conservatism isn’t unique to just republicans. The biggest problem in America today for ALL Americans is that the current economic system is a monopoly that is steady robbing us through taxation and the diminishing of government programs. Billionaires and corporations extracting and hoarding all the wealth. For example, in housing, job creation and the debate around workers’ pay, these are 3 sectors where Billionaires are dominating its citizens and squeezing us to death financially. But the conservative media apparatus has completely spun the narrative blaming immigrants, Blacks, religious minorities, wokeness and even feminism for these economic problems. Most voters are ignorant of the REAL issues because of their algorithm or news sources being created by these financial overlords. This type of misinformation has exacerbated and even created a serious divide amongst low or working class and middle-class citizens of EVERY demographic. Large social distrust within races and genders orchestrated by elites is what caused this movement to continue and be carried on amongst decades and generations. The problem now lies in what happens in next with policy and legislation?
The current administration is working hard to pull back protections of Black citizens and even poor citizens. Project 2025 is a devastating agenda pushed by conservatives that will negatively impact 99% of Americans regardless of race, creed and beliefs. Although released by republicans, project 2025 claims to be non-partisan and aims for a change in democracy. But a change for whom? This is where it becomes frightening. Project 2025 will aim to centralize power in the executive office and totally weaken democratic structures in order to defeat the checks and balances system we currently operate under. What’s not spoken about in project 2025 is the destructive impact it will have on Black communities. The Thurgood Marshall institute analyzed project 2025 to determine what its impact will be. What they found should not only scare you, but it should also upset you. “Project 2025 is a threat that is direct and boundless to the economic interests and well-being of Black Americans and our democracy.” At its core, project 2025 aims to dismantle agencies and regulations from agencies that protect and promote civil rights. It is filled with proposals created to erode and diminish the principles of equality, justice, fairness and reason amongst citizens. These pillars form the foundation of democracy as we know it.
The plan is the same playbook that conservatives have been using for decades. The conservatives want to target core democratic and constitutional principles to create a culture of racial hierarchy filled with exclusion and reeks of inequality. Radically expanding the president’s power and authority will in return reverse civil rights protections on Black neighborhoods and communities. These same vulnerable communities have relied on this government protection and this protection allows them to exercise their full citizenship. Just think, before governmental intervention stepping into protect its Black citizens, Blacks were enslaved in America. The fact the government wants to roll back civil rights protections is a huge red flag. Project 2025 will do 6 things that will negatively impact Black Americans.
1.Project 2025 will weaken anti discrimination laws, and destroy essential worker protections. “Project 2025 will eliminate key safeguards that protect Black workers6 and bar federal agencies from collecting racial demographic data, making it harder to enforce anti-discrimination laws and combat racial inequities, especially in the workplace.”
2. Project 2025 will limit access to quality education for a majority of Black students. By dismantling the Department of Education Project 2025 will exacerbate the education and wealth gap for Black students and workers. The Department of education is responsible for ensuring civil rights protections in schools. Without the department there will be discriminatory discipline practices that go unchecked. Also Project 2025 will expand the ongoing, coordinated attack on truth in schools and libraries, which will further deny our nation’s shameful legacy of racism. It will also make higher education even more inaccessible for Black students by privatizing student loans,10 and eliminating student loan forgiveness programs and income-based repayment options.11
3. Project 2025 will undermine Black political power. By overhauling the U.S. Census Bureau and criminalizing election-related offenses, Project 2025 will weaken the political influence of Black communities by undercounting them and suppressing the Black vote through threats and intimidation, destabilizing the key foundations of our multiracial democracy.
4. Project 2025 will jeopardize Black families access to affordable housing. Project 2025 will transfer control of critical housing programs that expand access to affordable housing, like Section 8, to states—including those with a history of racial discrimination—threatening the housing stability of millions of Black low-income families.
5.Project 2025 will threaten reproductive rights and the health of Black people. Black pregnant women, who already face disproportionately high maternal mortality rates, will be hit the hardest by Project 2025’s restrictions on reproductive health care, which include proposals to ban federal access to abortion care and criminalize health care providers. Given that forty-two of women seeking abortion care are Black, these proposals will have devastating consequences for their health and autonomy, and the health and autonomy of their families.
6. Project 2025 will exacerbate health disparities cause by environmental racism. By shutting down the Office of Environmental Justice, Project 2025 will allow the federal government to turn a blind eye to the persistent and increasing environmental racism2 that is causing severe health disparities in Black communities, leaving Black people even more vulnerable to pollution and hazardous living conditions.
As one can see for Black and other Americans who may struggle with poverty, there is more bad then good in project 2025. The fact that many people adhere to the creators of this document and the heritage foundation speaks to the seething racism lurking in America today. Many conservatives are just waiting for the right moment to act and project 2025 allows them to be in place to do so as rulers. Many conservative voters may or may not have understood the severity of what they voted for and who would be impacted by all this new legislation. The unfortunate part is there is nowhere to go but confront these people. Project 2025 is here, and I’d say that it is here to stay. Black Americans are caught in the firing line of fallacies amongst ideologies. Like I said earlier in the writing, many people are currently frustrated and disgusted with the current political and economic system. Instead of redirecting that energy to the oligarchs and corporations, misinformed citizens have turned on each other. This has created even more division and has furthered us away from making real change in class warfare. In order to Power the People, we MUST remember this and stop dividing each other up so much. We have fallen total victim to divide and conquer.
