Political grifitng is at an all-time high. Left and right winged voters have been thrown a plethora of media titans and phony intellectuals with the idea of radicalizing the country with the ideologies that they seem fit. Propaganda through media has always been a thing, this idea is nothing new. With the advances in technology today it just seems that no matter what avenue we turn, we cannot get away from this idea of grifting through political theatre. Nowhere is this example seen better than the creator of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk is exactly what is wrong with America as a country. He’s a college dropout masquerading as an intellectual who ridicules college students or anyone who identifies with anything “progressive.” He is a self-identified racist who tries to justify his racism by linking race and criminality. He is arguably one of the biggest fear mongers in media and it is very sad that he has a large following… But this is America. He represents the fallacies and disgusting ideologies that many Americans adhere to out of pure delusion and idiocy. Using “Christianity” or “Christian nationalism” as a backbone ideology to inflame and exploit racial divides, Charlie gives a bad rep to the Good Christians and Good church go-ers of America. Charlie represents the faction of conservatism and the dangers of traditionalism within this community. Charlie is not afraid to say that America is a “white nation”, rather than a nation of immigrants (which it is). Him and many others such as Nick Fuentes or Elon Musk believe in the great replacement theory. This theory states that there is a mass undergoing by all non-white communities in concert to replace and get rid of “white” people. This type of fear mongering is very dangerous and escalates violence onto people of non-white communities because the whites who fall for this rhetoric and lies become angry and revengeful which results in them committing hate crimes. The fact that Charlie Kirk has garnered this big of a following and attention is a huge red flag and speaks to the nature of how many Americans feel about their neighbors who don’t look like them.
Charlie has mastered capturing the economic and social grievances that many Americans may feel. Regardless of who is responsible for the economic turmoil we are in, it doesn’t change the fact that we are in this position. Charlie is correct in the sense that most Americans are broke and aren’t big fans of the system. My problem with Charlie is that his grifting has gotten so out of control that it has turned him into a spiteful, prejudice airhead and he has lost the plot. For example, when Charlie first created Turning Point USA he refused to acknowledge he was a “white nationalist” and denounced anyone in his organization who labeled themself as such. Fast forward about 10 years, Charlie PROUDLY wears the white nationalist hat with no shame. Actually, he has become the face of it amongst youth media. So why has Charlie adopted this phenomenon and all of a sudden made a pivot to the far right? In my opinion it is because he is a total grifter and this is where he can make his bread and butter. Is in the far-right arena. For example, in 2015 and 2016 Charlie Kirk has been documented saying that MLK Jr was a civil rights icon and that he was hero to America. That was Charlie’s rhetoric around MLK JR for a decade. All of a sudden in 2023 Charlie now claims that MLK Jr was an “awful” person and that MLK Jr was wrong about everything… why this pivot Charlie? I’ll tell you why, because for him it is easier to diss black people and create “political adversaries”, rather than speaking truth to power. His whole agenda is to divide people racially. Meanwhile he claims that liberals and progressives are the ones “obsessed with race.” But Charlie is the one who goes on podcasts and debate shows spewing egregiously wrong crime statistics about Black and Mexican Americans to push an agenda that brown skinned people are not “safe”. It is Charlie who Blamed the high death toll in the Texas floods on a “DEI/ unqualified” fire chief because he was Black even though the fire chief was from a town 100 miles away. It is Charlie who watched the George Floyd murder on camera and said that “George Floyd was a scumbag who deserved that.” Regardless of how you feel about George Floyd, he was murdered by the police unjustifiably. Its on camera, and a prejudiced person like Charlie Kirk will try to tell you that the media is lying and George Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose. When we clearly see the video. And on top of lying about Floyd’s death, created an entire smear campaign about George Floyd AFTER his death. And for what? Because Floyd was a Black man unjustifiably killed by the police on camera and that doesn’t fit Charlie’s narrative of Black people. It seems every time Black Americans even try to exist, Charlie tries to shit on us. On Juneteenth of this year Charlie went on a whole tirade about why it’s not a real holiday and Americans shouldn’t acknowledge it. This is a fair opinion to have, but it’s the fact that he makes a big deal out of it trying to get legislation passed to end it. Imaging me saying that Christmas isn’t a real holiday, I have the right to hold that opinion sure. But to try to push to enact legislation that ends it is… distasteful. Charlie seems to do a lot of things distasteful and EVERY time it is directed at Black Americans.
I think it’s fair to say that Charlie Kirk is obsessed with Black Americans. His idea of creating racial turmoil about issues that don’t even exist is second to none. The fact that he has so many loyal followers is a detriment to our society. Like I said earlier in this writing, Charlie plays on the emotions of financially stressed White Americans better than anyone else. He has now demonized the idea of “DEI”, (Diversity , Equity and Inclusion) and school and workplace diversity. By publicly questioning the credentials and qualifications of almost every Black government official and elected politician while simultaneously blaming everything wrong in the country on them, Charlie has created this false idea that Blacks in positions of authority or students at Universities were not qualified and were only given these positions to be tokens or to meet quota standards. This messaging is very dangerous economically because many people amongst the American Population believe these talking points. Creating Racial Animus in the workplace and education place is a key instrument of racism. Limiting one’s capacity to earn and learn is critical to their survival. Charlie is purposefully aiming to destroy Blacks in any of these positions in order to fulfill his talking points. Supreme court justice Ketanji Brown who happens to be a Black woman is by far the most qualified supreme court judge. But you don’t hear Charlie questioning Samuel Alito or Brett Kavanaugh. I find it funny he’s never said anything about the only Black male on the podium, Clarence Thomas. But if you know anything about politics, him and Clarence Thomas probably agree on most things LOL. Charlie has also created a false sense of belief in other sectors. Not just government and schooling. Charlie said if he were to walk on a plane and see the pilot is Black, that he would question if he is qualified… This type of thinking cannot get anymore into mainstream media and ideologies because the damage will be irreparable. Questioning Black workers intelligence and validity in the school and workplace is textbook racism. And this is what we as Black people will have to deal with, with the next generation of conservatives. As long as they follow people like Charlie Kirk, we will have battle these types of narratives and be two times as good just to get half as much progress or success. Lastly, Charlie’s tropes aren’t a new playbook. His idea of “biological roots of intelligence varying between populations” and the “undeniable war on white people in the west” have shot Charlie to superstardom amongst conservatives, white and Christian nationalists. Because this is what this political subset of people have always believed in. Part of me thanks Charlie Kirk for exposing these vicious racists and their moronic beliefs. Charlie’s role in politics is to be a bull in a China shop, not to gather people and unite them. He is actively trying to divide people using God and racism to do so. As you can see, I am not a fan at all, and I believe he is the problem in America. A man who will stick his neck out for capitalism and corporations but not for the average man. Whether white or Black, Green or Yellow, Charlie Kirk is a threat to you and me. His anti-intellectual ideologies will only cause America to be more divided and will put gas onto the already heavy burning flames of social tension and economic unrest. In order to Power the people, we must weed out the Charlie Kirks of the world and expose their naiveness and flat-out prejudice/racism.
